About Sophie
Sophie has a degree in philosophy from the Catholic University of America, where she graduated summa cum laude as a University Scholar. She has an AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) diploma in birth to 3 from Montessori Northwest in Portland OR. She also holds a level T certificate (birth-3) in CGS from Elizabeth Calanchini at CCMA in Nokesville VA, and levels I and II (ages 3-9) from Sr. Mary Rose Bingham at St. Jerome's in Hyattsville. Sophie has been teaching in a Montessori classroom since 2014.
Sophie is married to Avalon teacher Kevin Oriani and they and their children live in Hyattsville. When she isn't teaching, she enjoys birding, reading, and working on her fixer-upper of a house.
